Greece’s civil protection service says they have issued an emergency alert, warning of torrential rains and strong winds in the northeast, the centre, and the region around Athens.

Local officials in Lemnos said the victims were two men aged 57 and 70 who died due to the flash floods caused by the storm.
According to local media, one of the men, a 70-year-old resident, allegedly suffered a fatal head injury after falling on slippery stairs while cleaning his home.
Officials on another island, Rhodes, known for its tourism industry, said the storm left several roads, bridges, and buildings damaged.
South Aegean regional governor, Giorgos Harzimarkos, said that Rhodes experienced non-stop rainfall for over 16 hours on Saturday, the equivalent of 80% of the water volume accumulated during the deadly late-October flood in Valencia, Spain.
Emergency authorities on the island said they had evacuated scores of people following the storm’s arrival.
The Fire Brigade announced that about 1,076 emergency calls were received at its operations centre between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, while Greece’s civil protection service issued an emergency alert that warned of torrential rains and strong winds in the northeast, the centre, and the region around Athens.
Storm Bora is expected to persist in several regions of the country through Monday, December 2, according to the National Meteorological Service of Greece.
Authorities urged residents to stay at home and asked schools to be closed on Monday while emergency services remain “on maximum alert.”.
